On the occasion of the International Ginebra Motor Show, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles presents an extremely sports version of the Amarok successful pick-up: the concept Car Amarok Sport. The design of this new prototype, especially adapted to the extreme sport "Freestyle Kayak", demonstrates the great versatility offered by this model.
The concept Car Amarok Sport, presented in Geneva, meets all the requirements to adjust to the practice of this sport, from the chassis to the details of the cargo box. With this prototype, Volkswagen Commercial vehicles demonstrates the infinity of possibilities of use offered by Amarok. Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, spokesman for the Board of Directors of the Brand
Adaptation of the pick-up design to extreme sports pursues a very concrete goal: accentuate the yellow genes. "
The concept car is clearly taller and wider than series Amarok; The color of the body is rare. One of the changes in this Amarok is the increase in body height, covered with a three -layer paint with orange pearl effect "Baladi Orange", in 40 mm; Taking into account the wheels, the prototype is even 85 mm higher than the serial model. The Freestyle car ceiling has a support with four additional headlights. The dark rear headlights and the anti -employment bar of different color than the body accentuate the outer design of Amarok.
The pick-up also offers two electric access steps that allow the comfortable access and descent of the passenger vehicle, despite the increase in body height. The access steps, integrated very discreetly in the design, hide when Amarok is launched, so its high off-road performance remains unchanged. As previously highlighted, this concept is wider than the serial model. In order to gain space for the large AT wheels of 275/65 r 18, “High Gloss Adamantium Dark” and “Durban” design, the width of the wheel steps in 35 mm respectively had to increase respectively.
The two carbon fiber kayak are fixed to the load box, where the back of the kayak is introduced into two molded and coated scatters with soft materials located in the cargo box and the front of the kayak is fixed to the color embellish bar “High Gloss Adamantium Dark” with straps. The oars are fixed on the inner face of the rear gate, a practice location that leaves them at hand. The other utensils such as the helmet, the life vest and the rafting footwear also have their individual storage place: the helmets are placed in networks located in the frontal area of the cargo box and the other utensils are stored in small drawers that can be closed with waterproof tapas. The load box, covered with neoprene, offers a ground specially designed to evacuate the water.
Inside, multiple chromatic details stand out. The leather seats are bicolor design, the surfaces of the seats are “sterling” color; The headrests and interior areas of the backup offer an elegant "Adamant" tone. The decorative seams of the seats adopt the orange red color of the body. These chromatic accents also extend to a large number of details such as the seams of the three -radius steering wheel and the gearbox lever, the safety belts and the bezels of the air exits. The dashboard integrates three additional instruments that indicate the angle of ascent and inclination of Amarok providing passengers with an additional degree of security during extremely dangerous paths.
In order to guarantee the maximum off-road benefits, the Amarok prototype equips a powerful 2.0 TDI Biturbo engine of 132 kW / 180 hp that delivers a maximum torque of 400 nm between 1,500 and 2,250 rpm Rear axle block.
