Nissan will donate 43 fast charging equipment to several operators to be installed in Madrid, Catalonia, Basque Country, Andalusia and Castilla y León. These new points will be installed mainly in gas stations and will be located in strategic places, especially in urban nuclei and at the exit of large cities.

The objective is to create the embryo of a future and extensive capillary network of fast charging points - 40 kilometers - and offer customers more freedom and flexibility in their displacements, being able to cover in a single day long distances. With these loaders, lithium -ion batteries can be recharged up to 80% of their capacity in just 30 minutes.

Fast charging technology

The new fast loaders have been designed according to the CHADEMO standard and can generate up to 50 kW of high voltage current (CC). The Chademo standard - or loading to move - was originally fixed and agreed by a coalition of Japanese companies that includes Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Fuji Heavy Industries. Thus, Nissan's rapid loaders can be used not only by Nissan Leaf drivers, but also by Mitsubishi, Citroën and Peugeot electric vehicle drivers. Fast charging stations are also prepared to offer alternating current electricity to Nissan's electric vehicles in the Alliance, Renault. The stations have been designed to meet the rapid flow of alternating current of 43 kW. The Renault-Nissan alliance is promoting the implementation of infrastructure based on a fast charging strategy that combines continuous current and alternating current.
