What seemed impossible, comes from Toyota. This house has created the first central rear seat airbag, which mainly helps reduce injuries to a lateral collision. This new creation will be available, for the moment, in a Toyota model in Japan.

Innovation and development do not cease to surprise us when applying to vehicles. On this occasion, the surprise is given by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), which has announced the development of an Airbag SRS (Suppleal Restraint System, supplementary support system) central of the rear seat, the first of the world that helps reduce the severity of secondary lesions suffered by passengers from the rear seats in case of lateral collision.

The new airbag is mounted on a large central console fixed in the rear seat, available in a version of a Toyota model that will be launched in Japan in the near future. When the vehicle suffers a lateral impact, the airbag is deployed from the top of the console, as a barrier that helps reduce injuries caused by the collision of passengers between them or against the console.

This last safety advance is added to the helmet with airbag, which was intended to protect the cervical and dorsal zone. The airbag is activated in 0.15 seconds from a signal that is sent from under the motorcycle seat. The gadget has a system that unfolds that of detecting a collision and displays an air bag through the cervical area to the seventh vertebra. It is integrated into the back of the helmet.

The helmet incorporates a radiofrequency signal system and a rechargeable battery similar to that of mobile phones. The operation of the airbag is activated from a switchboard located under the seat that manages the motorcycle information running, detects the accident and sends the order to the helmet. The helmet is marketed in three colors -Negro, gray and white- and in four sizes.
