The International Automobile Federation (FIA), has approved the new škoda Fabia R 5. A vehicle with 114 years of history in motor competitions. The Fabia R 5 is based on the new Škoda Fabia and is the successor of Fabia Super 2000, the most successful Skoda Rally car.

"The papers have been invested and the production model has served as the basis for the new Fabia R 5," explained Frank Welsch, head of the Development of the Directorate of Directorate of ŠKODA.

In compliance with the FIA ​​regulations, Škoda Fabia R 5 is equipped with a 1.6 -liter turbo engine. It is a 1230 kilos car, with four -wheel drive, which mounts a five -speed McPherson sequential gearbox.

The homologation process is long and complex, requires close collaboration with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and consists of different phases. Elite pilots such as Czech Jan Kopecký, Asia-Pacific champion, Finnish Esopekka Lappi, European champion, Freddy Loix, a legend of the rallyes, and Raimund Baumschlager, several times Austria champion, gave opinion during the development of the new Rally car. During the approval, around 10,000 kilometers of tests were completed in a wide variety of surfaces and conditions in countries such as the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Greece, Spain and Finland.

The škoda Fabia Super 2000 competed for the first time in 2009. In these 6 years, he has accumulated almost 50 international and national titles in six years. Without going any further, in the 2014 season, Škoda completed a 'hat-trick' titles in the categories of pilots and builders in the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC), while the champion of the European Rally Championship (ERC) was an official ŠKODA pilot for the third consecutive year. The list of successes achieved last year also includes five national titles.
