Mixing Water and Oil - Published by manual-mecanica
Hello friends, I have a small but significant problem with a Hyundai Santa Fe diesel. The water is mixing with the oil. I changed the head gasket, checked the cylinder head and block (it's fine), and it's still mixing. Any suggestions? Oh, I forgot to mention, the head gasket is an aftermarket one. Looking forward to your prompt help. Thank you

Hi, did you check the base of the oil filter? It has a heat exchanger; it's a small square container where the engine coolant passes through and helps cool the oil. Sometimes it gets punctured. Cheers

Hi, it's most likely the oil cooler, as others have mentioned. There are ways to check them, and if that's the problem, I advise you to change the thermostat and water pump, and of course, use a good circuit cleaner.

Hi Jonaz, if it's an automatic transmission, check the radiator; the transmission oil lines connect there. If that doesn't work, it's most likely the base of the oil filter heat exchanger. Try installing a bypass (connect a tube between the two hoses leading to it) to isolate it. Start the engine and check if oil is leaking from the connections. Let us know how it goes.

Well friends, I have bad news, it's still consuming a little water. I pressed the radiator and it mixed up again
