Manual-mechanics response on the topic Re: Trailblazer 2002 crankshaft grinding

That's very low mileage for an overhaul, let alone a crankshaft reconditioning...plus you bought it recently, so the damage likely came from previous use, especially since it's a Trailblazer, which should have an engine that lasts for much longer than it did...

Anyway, the decision is yours, but if it were me...I'd pass.

I recently replaced the piston rings and bearings on my Silverado, just because it was leaking oil from several seals. I took the opportunity to remove the engine and service it, without any engine rebuilds. The truck has 430,000 km and I've had it since it was 60,000 km

Manual-mechanics response on the topic Re: Trailblazer 2002 crankshaft grinding
So, that's my situation. My mechanic told me that this failure is due to the oil not being pumped because of dirt caused by a buildup of sludge (I don't know if I'm explaining myself well) that accumulated due to lack of maintenance. Anyway,
I really appreciate your time and I will take your advice into account.
Thanks again, Miguel Brito Ruiz

Hi friend, regarding your question, that oil level you mentioned works perfectly fine. Just tell your mechanic to check the oil pump to make sure it's not scratched, or replace it if it is. If everything is okay, reassemble it; that oil level will work well for you. Just be sure to change the oil regularly so the same problem doesn't happen again

Crankshaft grinding and bolting are common, they're done well, and the vehicles last many more kilometers. You just need to be careful with the oil. If it's done perfectly, I recommend keeping it; you won't have any problems. Crankshafts can even be rebuilt to factory specifications; it's not the end of the world. I've restored some old vehicles for which spare parts are no longer available, and I've done this type of repair, and everything went well.
