Consult about cylinder shirts published by Manual-Mecanica
Very good, I have a query, I hope it is not taken as a silly consultation, I need to know the following: if I have an engine that will change their cylinder shirts and they are have a measure of 90 mm of diameter and a length of 191 mm, which would happen if some 90 mm diameter shirts and 160.48 mm long since the rings would never reach the bottom of the cylinder. I would appreciate a lot of response.

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Re: Consult about cylinder shirts
Greetings Jamoza, the idea of shortening a shirt I do not see it viable, although it is true that the rings do not reach down in their route, the shirts are designed in the function of the block, if you place a smaller length you run the risk that moves with the movement of the piston, the same would happen if you place a longer (in the case you manage to fit it), the connecting rod could hit the same. But a 30mm difference in shirts implies practically changing the block. Greetings and I hope I have clarified the doubt.

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Re: Consult about cylinder shirts
You could not, since, as you know there are two types of shirts; the humids, in which the refrigeration circuit passes through its walls; and the dry ones that are joined to the block, in these you could have vibrations problems when you have one of the sides without reaching its anchor.
The manufacture of engines always have a calibration in all their pieces, and they all have the why, the perfect and balanced operation. If we change some parameter of that, the longevity of the engine will always be lowering.
Think that this is just my way of thinking.
All the best.
