The new Audi S3 Sportback, with the 2.0 TFSI engine of 300 hp (221 kW) of power and 380 nm of torque, is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. Of course, with average reduced consumption of 6.9 liters per 100 km. The 2.0 four -cylinder TFSI is a new development engine, which only copy its cylindrated, 1,984 cc.
The maximum power, 300 hp (221 kW), is obtained at 5,500 rpm, while the maximum torque reaches 380 Nm, a value that remains constant from 1,800 to 5,500 rpm.
The engine and transmission of the new Audi S3 Sportback
The 2.0 TFSI engine uses new technologies such as the dual injection system - an additional indirect injection that complements the direct injection of gasoline in partial loading regime -, the Audi Valvelift System variable distribution system - with continuous variation in the intake camshaft -, and the exhaust collector integrated into the integrated exhaust collector in Bullet.
Equipped with the optional six -speed S Tronic change, the Audi S3 Sportback includes the Launch Control system, which allows to start from standing with maximum effectiveness, by precisely controlling the power supply to the asphalt depending on adhesion. The 2.0 TFSI only consumes an average of 6.9 liters of fuel per 100 km if combined with the S Tronic change, and 7 liters in the case of manual transmission, which is a decrease of 1.5 liters compared to the previous S3 Sportback.
In both transmissions, both with the manual change and with the S Tronic Automatic Box, the relationship between the first marches is adapted for sports performance, while the development of the sixth march reduces fuel consumption. The double clutch change
S tronic offers the automatic modes D and S, and can be optionally handled manually through the cams located in the steering wheel.
The Audi S3 Sportback filming train
the Audi S3 Sportback equips the permanent integral traction Quattro, with a new multidiscus clutch that allows us to accelerate sooner and more safety at the exit of a curve, which improves the behavior on wet asphalt or with snow.
Compared to the previous model, the front axle is displaced 52 mm forward. The new 2.0 TFSI engine is five kilograms lighter than the previous one, and is tilted back 12 degrees.
In addition to being regulated with the specifications of the S sports suspension - which reduces the height of the body 25 mm -, the distribution of weights (59 percent in the front axle and 41 percent in the rear axle) and the new progressive address contribute to achieving a very sporty behavior. On the other hand, the progressive address makes the direction vary depending on the movements of the steering wheel: it is more indirect in the central and more direct position when the steering wheel is rotated quickly.
The new Audi S3 Sportback includes 18 -inch tires equipped with tires in 225/40 low rolling resistance format, which help reduce fuel consumption. The brake discs, which reach 340 mm in diameter on the front train, are painted in black - they can be requested red in red - and decorated with the “S” logo.
The electronic stability program (ESC) is of the latest generation, and the Audi Drive Select system, which controls the characteristics of the electronic accelerator, the change points in the case of the S Tronic Automatic Box, and the demultiplication of the progressive address is included as standard. Just by clicking a button, the driver can choose between the “Comfort”, “Auto”, “Dynamic” or “Efficient” operation programs. In the versions equipped with the MMI Radio or Higher system there is an additional “individual” mode, and if the S3 Sportback equips the optional Suspension Audi Magnetic Ride, the tarado of the shock absorbers is also controlled through the Audi Drive Select system.
The weight of this five -door compact sports car is 1,445 kilograms, 70 kilograms less than the previous model. The highest weight reduction is due to the lightening of the body, with a safety cell for the cabin carried out largely with ultra high strength steel, while for the front fins and the hood aluminum is used.
The exterior design of the new Audi S3 Sportback
The radiator sports grill, specific to the S models, is made of aluminum and matte gray inserts. The bumper includes integrated air inlets with double ribs also in aluminum finish, and simulated air intakes on the sides.
As an alternative to the Xenón Plus headlights that are mounted as standard, Audi offers for this compact model the full LED headlights, a technology from the luxury class, which ensures that the road is always illuminated as well as possible.
