The famous GT Academy Race Camp launched last Saturday, August 18 at the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom.

About 830,000 people from all over Europe have registered in the fourth edition of the innovative competition "of Piloto A Piloto" by Nissan and PlayStation® this year, and only the best 36 are still in the competition. Throughout the next few days they must demonstrate to the team of experts who have gathered in Silverstone that they have what is needed to follow the steps of the winners of the GT Academy, now Nissan competition pilots, Lucas Ordoñez, Jordan Tresson and Jann Mardenborough.

The 36 participants will be divided into six groups, by territories, and have been grouped as follows: France (6 candidates); Italy (6); United Kingdom (5) and Ireland (1); Spain (3) and Portugal (3); Belgium (3) and the Netherlands (3); and Austria (2), Switzerland (2) and Poland (2).

The 36 must go through a strenuous challenge program, both on and off track, which will allow their potential to make the leap from the Gran Tourism®5 of PlayStation to the powerful sports cars of Nissan, such as 370z or the GT-R. To help the experienced team of Silverstone instructors, there will be mentors such as Formula 1 drivers 1 Johnny Herbert (United Kingdom), René Arnoux (France), Vitantonio Liuzzi (Italy), Sébastien Buemi (Switzerland) and Dani Clos (Spain); Also racing drivers Bas Leinders (Belgium), Rob Barff (United Kingdom), Franck Mailleux (France) and GT Academy graduates: Lucas Ordeñez (Spain), Jordan Tresson (France) and Jann Mardenboroug (United Kingdom); In addition to the Tim Coronel Touring Pilot (Netherlands).

Since the first race of the Formula 1 world championship was held in 1950, Silverstone has become the vibrant and modern headquarters of the British engine, with first class facilities. It is the perfect place for the Race Camp. The program of the week is secret, but includes training to compete in higher level races with several Nissan vehicles, combining with challenges inside and outside the track, which will test their potential, skills, determination, physical form, mental strength and speed.

During the week participants will be eliminated, until the final two days of the Race Camp (Friday 24 and Saturday, August 25), only one member in each team is. The final curiously coincides with the Silverstone race of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), in which the champions of the GT Academy, Lucas Ordoñez and Jordan Tresson, will compete with two LMP2 prototypes in the Nissan, Greaves Motorsport and Signaterch teams respectively.

The winner of the European GT Academy Race Camp shortly after winning the victory will return to Silverstone to immerse himself in the intense Driver Development program. In addition to being prepared to obtain a license for international careers in record time, the DDP will prepare the winner with the rigor that demands participation in the hard and prestigious 24 -hour Dubai test, in January 2014, where the winner will pilot a Nissan 370z GT4. The European winner will join Dubai to the winners of the Race Camp of Germany, Russia and the United States.
