Fiat Doblo engine failure. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello everyone, I hope you can help me. I'm repairing a Fiat Doblo Panorama 1.9D. The problem is this: occasionally, when I turn the ignition on and wait for all the warning lights to check, I notice that the engine malfunction light doesn't go out. I try to start it, and the light stays on. The car starts to jerk and shake slightly, indicating that it's actually malfunctioning. When I press the accelerator, there's no response; it's as if I'm not accelerating at all. To my surprise, a few minutes later, I try turning the ignition on again, and the malfunction light goes out. I start the car, and the light stays off. The car runs perfectly, there are no problems, and when I press the accelerator, it responds correctly. That's all. I hope you can help me. Thank you very much

Manual-mechanics' response on the topic Re: Fiat Doblo engine failure
The best thing you can do is use a scanner, since that fault is recorded in the computer's memory. I'd start there; it's wiser than just replacing things unnecessarily. These kinds of intermittent symptoms are a bit complicated to diagnose just like that. It would be easier if it couldn't be fixed or wouldn't start, but using a scanner will save you a lot of money in the long run

Well, yes, the truth is I'll end up having to scan it. The problem is I don't have a scanner and I'll have to take it to an official Fiat dealership, I imagine, right? Or should I keep waiting to see if someone else has had a problem like mine and I can sort it out? Thanks for replying, kikemec

Manual-mechanics' response on the topic Re: Fiat Doblo engine failure
It's not necessary to take it to a Fiat dealership; there are workshops that have this equipment. I have a very good one. It depends on what country you're in; here in Chile I can tell you, but almost all workshops are equipped with these machines. It's much cheaper. I'm telling you this because a Ford I repaired had a problem with the mass airflow sensor. I replaced it and it improved, but then the problem returned, and there was an inconsistency between the signal from the mass airflow sensor and the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). But at a Fiat dealership, they'll charge you much more than a regular workshop. Just ask who has a scanner, and that's it

How much did your machine cost, and does it work for all models?
