Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Rezuki Maruti TPS
The potentiometer is the basic principle of a TPS but there are ECUs that compare the TPS signals by having 2 potentiometers incorporated in the same TPS so it seems difficult to do so but I suppose that it is also possible the range of resistance varies of vehicle to vehicle.

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Rezuki Maruti TPS
Greetings, for testing purposes or to rule out failures, it can be done with a potentiometer, it is usually 5kohm although it has variations according to the vehicle brand, now to leave it fixed it is not recommended since the potentiometer material is not designed to support the temperatures present in the engine, apart from that it would be quickly worn by the extensive use it would have since the material does not support that use.

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Rezuki Maruti TPS
If it can be, but you have to have the resistive values and calibrate the prayer angle well with the resistive line of the potentiometer, in addition the TPS is three tracks that means that three potentiometers that work with 5 volts and also have to have communication with the corresponding line of the ECU, it is cheaper to buy it and less complicated.
