BMW 318 E36 Distribution Correa published by Manual-Mecanica
Hello,

I am terrified: when I return home today and entering the service route, next to a gas station (less bad) I have stopped the BMW 318 engine (E36). It seemed as if I didn't have gasoline but had. I have taken it in crane to the workshop and have disassembled the distribution cover. The belt is but does not turn. They tell me that it is broken below. The question is, are the valves of 318 E36 of 1992? Can you have a solution just by putting another belt? Please tell me that I have not broken the engine !! Does anyone know what possibilities there are? (I will have walked about 30 meters with a march, then at the dead point to the gas station)

Thank you

Friend does not terrify the first one, although a car Pille valves always can be the possibility of not agan, the best thing would be to buy the belt and put it and go to see what happens before taking out the cylinder head, because it happened to me in Fiat 1.6 of double cam that caught valves with a single corrido that they have not spoiled the valves, try first with a new strap to see if you see if you see a new strap to see if you see a new strap.

Look friend in the E 36 engine there are two possibilities double camshaft but when it is by chain in the 318is and a tree in the 318i that is per band if it is most likely that you have not crooked valves since it wears a single camshaft the best thing is that you change the band and check if you turn on the car.

Thank you very much Kikemec and Gordo,

I will. At least I know there are possibilities of not having broken valves (it is an E36i) ...
These are the options: change strap and wait to be lucky or throw it. Open butt or change engine is not worth the price. Now I am going to make a candle to the Virgen del Carmen !!, I will tell you how it has gone.

Well, I have only repaired a car with the same problem and that is that when belting the valve was crooked, change valve new belt together and continue to grab kilometers.

If repairing yourself is not very expensive anything I guided you
