Hello, I'm having problems with my car. It's a 1993 Nissan Sentra with an E16 carbureted 4-cylinder 8-valve engine. The problem is that it's hard to idle smoothly in the mornings. I've noticed that sometimes the lights come on brighter when I accelerate a little and dim when I let off the gas. Also, there's a slight misfire in the engine after decelerating. This happens when the engine is cold. Could it be the alternator? It seems to be using a lot of electricity. If anyone has information on how the valve clearances should be adjusted, I would also appreciate it!
Thanks in advance for your replies!

The issue with the lights is indeed the alternator's regulator box. To be sure, try turning the heater on at one speed. If you notice the lights and heater coming on together, then the alternator's regulator box isn't regulating properly, and there's an excess of current flowing from the alternator to the battery
