Antifreeze temperature gauge. Published by manual-mecanica
So, guys, I have a 2010 Renault Scenic III 1.5 dCi with 85 hp, and I want to install a coolant temperature gauge to prevent overheating and serious engine damage.

I have quite a few questions about how to do it, but now that I have more free time, I'd like to install it myself.

Where can I put the temperature sensor—on the engine block, a hose, or the radiator? I'd like to do it as simply as possible while ensuring the water temperature readings are as accurate as possible. Thanks in advance.

It can't be very easy, but look around the cylinder head or engine block to see if you have a threaded plug. Remove it and you can connect a temperature sensor from a junkyard there, along with its corresponding temperature gauge, because the sensor's internal resistance will match the gauge. Take them from the same car and you won't have any problems; the difficult part will be finding the same thread pitch on the sensor as on your plug. Cheers!
