Automatic transmission. Published by manual-mechanics
Hello friends, I have a Daihatsu with an automatic transmission and I need to identify which valve in the valve assembly is for reverse. I have six valves, two with one wire and four with two. When I engage reverse, should any of them receive a different voltage (they all have 1.3 to 1.5V)? I've tried to identify it by the sound it should make when it engages, but it's very faint and I can't distinguish them well. Can anyone help me find it? Thanks in advance and regards

As far as I know, all reverse gears are generally 100% hydraulic. You should try with another valve bank, and if possible, check all the clutches with air

Hello, the way to troubleshoot a fault is to find the wiring diagram to understand how the solenoids work, since some are modulated, like the one that controls the TCC, others apply ground, and still others supply 12V. I haven't seen a solenoid for reverse gear. Solenoid faults usually result in a fault code. What problem is your transmission having?

Manual-mechanics' response on the topic Re: Automatic transmission
Before attempting to repair a transmission, you should have some knowledge of what you're doing. Automatic transmissions have solenoids, but they aren't specifically for selecting a gear. All transmissions operate using oil pressure, and the manual shift valve is responsible for selecting the gear. If your transmission is having problems, don't try to identify specific solenoids because forward shifts are achieved through a combination of oil discharges from the shift solenoids. Line pressure is almost always regulated by the pulse-width modulation (PWM) of the line pressure solenoid, and the torque converter clutch lockup is handled by the lockup solenoid.

The problem is that when I put it in reverse, there's a loud clunk when it engages. I'm waiting for the filter to arrive so I can change it along with the oil, but I thought there might be a valve on the solenoid that could be cleaned or something, since the oil pan was already out. Thanks, regards
