While checking for a leak from the camshaft cover, I found that it is corroded with rust. My question is: to remove it, do I have to secure or lock the damper to avoid losing the timing, since the camshaft is mounted on the cylinder head and is a single unit?

Make a mark on the timing belt. Take a punch and a hammer, mark one point on the camshaft gear and another opposite it, but not on the gear, so that when you put it back together, those points line up again

The timing on the Daewoo comes marked from the factory: The crankshaft sprocket has the mark facing down, and on the camshaft it faces up, where the reference is a "v" that has the plastic cover. : UNSURE:

Remove the spark plug from piston number one and carefully insert a rod, turning the crankshaft until the piston reaches neutral point. Then, check the camshaft pulley and you'll see that the mark is at the top. Remove the pulley, do your work, and you're done.
