Performance Published by manual-mechanics
Hello forum members... My question is, I have a 1990 Isuzu Trooper 2.6L with fuel injection and a catalytic converter... My problem is that it only gets 8 km per liter... I've kept everything up to date: tune-up, oil changes, and the injectors are clean, but that's still the fuel economy... Does anyone know of any way to get better fuel economy?

Manual-mechanics' response on the topic Re: performance
Hi Kike, I understand these models are low-performance, and given the year, I don't think it has an oxygen sensor. But if it does, try cleaning it, and if it looks very contaminated (very smoky), replace it. Also, try installing a high-performance air filter; for example, K&N has specific models that fit the original filter housing. Try this and let us know.

If it has an oxygen sensor... I'll check it, test it, and let you know how it goes...

Manual-mechanics' response on the topic Re: performance
It seems it was the oxygen sensor... I changed it because it was damaged... and the performance improved. I haven't tested it properly yet, but from what I've driven, it seems to be getting around 10 or 11 km/l... Thanks a lot

Manual-mechanics' response on the topic Re: performance
Hi Kike, glad I could help. Try using Champion brand double platinum spark plugs. I have some friends with Troopers who have tried them and given them good reviews, and the best part is they're not expensive; they cost just a little more than the regular ones. Cheers.
