Ford focus 2001 Published by manual-mecanica
Hi, I have a 2001 Ford Focus, and I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced the following: 1. The speedometer suddenly stops working, and when I come to a complete stop, the engine stalls. 2. When driving uphill, the car loses power and I can't get up the hill.
I look forward to your comments. Thanks.

It's probably the timing belt; it should be changed at least every 50,000 miles. Does the yellow light come on? Have you changed the spark plugs and everything else? Check the engine pressure. Does it run more constantly when you turn on the A/C? Maybe it's lacking cold air, an air hose is loose, or the air pressure sensor is faulty. Why doesn't it stall when you're driving? Give us more information so we can help you. See you later

You need to retrieve the codes first to have a baseline to work with. This will give you an idea of why the speedometer stops working. If the speedometer isn't working, the PCM or TCM usually locks the transmission in one gear, not first, usually third, which is why you feel a loss of power. Retrieve the codes and let us know so we can help you further.
