Forget about buying a new gearbox; there are several problems you could have, and they all have solutions. If the problem started suddenly, it's most likely an electrical fault.

If I would be a box, the repair is expensive and depending on what you have, a lot of pasta can be quoted first, if all others fail the problem is more than electric.
