Problems with my Fiesta. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hi, how are you? I have a problem. I have a 2002 Ford Fiesta and the connecting rod seized, cracking the oil pan. I dropped it to replace the piston rings. Does anyone know if there's a specific position for the rings and if I can reuse the same ones? I rebuilt the engine a year ago. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it

Hi felix4388,
you need to do several things: find out why the connecting rod seized, measure the cylinders to check for wear and find out about the piston rings, check the condition of the crankshaft bearings and journals, especially where the damage occurred, and if the cylinder head was damaged by the impact of the piston, you'll practically need to rebuild the entire engine. Good luck.

Servi is right, you'll have to do another adjustment, but for your answer, the rings go in a specific order that's written on the bag they come in. Their position on the piston is with the top or any mark it has facing upwards, and the gaps should never be together on the same line, generally there should be a 1-inch difference.
