Saab 95 stops and then does not start

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a Saab 95 that keeps stalling, and when I try to restart it, it won't start, but it does start when I push it. Why is that? The check engine light comes on and then goes off randomly. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how to fix it. Thanks and regards.

Hi, you didn't say if it's gasoline or diesel. If it's diesel, it could be a loose intercooler hose or a dirty particulate filter. That could be what's causing the check engine light. It's strange that it won't start; if it starts when push-started, then it's fine. Is the battery okay? If it's gasoline, I don't know. I hope this helps.

nil2929, thanks in advance for your reply. The car is a petrol engine, and I think it might be the rotor or the ignition cover, but I have no idea where it is or if it even has one. Regards.
