INFINITI Q45 SHUTS OFF IN P/N Published by manual-mecanica
My 2001 Infiniti Q45, when it reaches a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius every two and a half minutes, shuts off while in Park/Neutral. It restarts immediately, and I don't have any fault codes. The crankshaft sensor signal and fuel injection pulses are not lost. If the car is in Drive or Reverse, the RPMs drop without the engine stalling, but there is a slight hesitation. I think the ECM is malfunctioning. Does anyone have any ideas?

Manual-mechanics response on the topic Re: INFINITI Q45 SHUTS OFF IN P/N
I had a similar problem with a 2001 Sentra with an SR20 engine. It would stall after idling for a while. I measured the voltage output of the mass airflow sensor, and according to the manual, it should be 1.3 to 1.7 volts at idle, but mine was only generating 1.56 volts. I replaced it with one from another vehicle, and it generated 1.38 volts, and the engine stopped stalling. You should try it; maybe that's your problem. The sensor I used for testing was from a 2001 Pathfinder with a VQ35 engine (I think it's the same as the Q45), and the sensors should be the same. Sometimes cars are temperamental and don't adhere to the manufacturer's specifications, but it doesn't hurt to know the sensor specifications to properly diagnose a problem.
