Daewoo Lanos 1.4 Starting Problem - Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello again to all forum members, today I had a problem with my Lanos. While driving, the speedometer needle dropped to zero (meaning it wasn't registering my speed) and the check engine light came on.
I parked the car and turned off the engine. I tried to restart it, and after several attempts, it started but then immediately stalled.
Fuel is getting to the engine; I've checked all the fuses and spark plug wires, and they all seem fine, but the engine starts and then immediately stalls.
I'm hoping for your wise advice.
Regards, Jomadu

The speed sensor on the gearbox, perhaps the speed reducer, is what causes this problem. Without that sensor, it's easy to replace and inexpensive. You can also use a scanner

Jona is right, you can use a scanner to be sure, but check the speed sensor. Without this information, the vehicle assumes it's in stop mode and doesn't inject enough fuel.

I really think what you're saying is incorrect.
I've seen plenty of cars without those sensors and they work. Look for the problem elsewhere.

Sorry, maybe I'm wrong, but if a Chevy or a Charade G20 isn't affected, the issue is that the computer generally controls the systems, and if it doesn't receive information, for example from the oxygen sensor, it will obviously be unstable and have high emissions. The same goes for the speed sensor, which, besides sending data to the dashboard, also sends a signal to the computer...
