ABS problem. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello,

while repairing a '99 Golf GTI that was flooded, I've found that the ABS module is burning hot when we move the plug, and a lot of smoke comes out. I thought it would have dried out completely by now, but it seems not. Perhaps the water itself damaged the module. Is that possible?

Besides the ABS, I also have the airbag module (part number 6Q0 909 605 F), which also seems to have been damaged by water and isn't working. Is there any way to disable this module even if the airbags themselves aren't functioning?

Thanks in advance.

Generally, when connectors get wet, are submerged, or are exposed to water, water is a very good conductor of electricity, so dry the connectors very well. They tend to retain a lot of moisture inside. Did your ABS fuses blow?

Hi

, I tried drying the connectors but it didn't work. In the end, I bought a new module from a junkyard and installed it last week. Everything works fine, except the traction control warning light won't turn off. I'm taking it to an auto electrician today to see what they say...

Thanks in advance.
