Electrical fault with Voyager 99. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello friends of mechanical manuals, today I have a problem with a 1999 Voyager with a 3.8 engine. The problem is the following: I changed the Voyager's evaporator and logically I had to remove the dashboard to be able to remove the climate control unit. I changed it and reinstalled everything. In the front, I removed the plenum to have a little more space for the heating pipes and hoses. Well, so far so good. Once everything was installed, I started the Voyager and it started, but it immediately stalled. I restarted the engine and it started again, but this time with a little acceleration, and it still stalled again. I started it again and it started again, but it stalled. On the fourth try, it wouldn't start and the speedometer and PRND321 lights went out, and now it won't start. I checked the power and grounds at the starter relay and noticed that the ground wire is missing, and that wire comes from the computer and is the pin. 31. I grounded that wire, and now it cranks, but the engine won't start, much less try to start. I thought it was locked, and a specialist in original alarms came and told me it's not the alarm, it's something else...

The million-dollar question is, has anyone had a similar problem and could offer some guidance? I'm an air conditioning technician, not an electrician, and as we all say, if the car arrived at your shop working, then it should leave working...

If anyone can guide me on how to get that engine running and deliver it to the customer...

Look, something similar happened to me with a new Ford Ranger. A mechanic took apart the dashboard to remove the check engine light, and it never started again. The computer was reprogrammed, and it had to be taken to a Ford dealership for reprogramming because the vehicle assumes it's stolen and locks itself. Maybe the same thing happened to you. Although you should check the fuses; if the mass airflow sensor fuse blew, it won't start. This happens to Toyotas quite often

Friend, I have a similar problem, almost identical to yours. It's the same truck, but I just parked it normally and when I tried to start it again, the same thing happened as with you. I would appreciate it if you could reply and tell me what you did to fix it or what was done to it. Thank you very much, I look forward to your response!

Well, my friend, I'm going to tell you something you're not going to like: you have to take the dashboard down again. You know why? Because you forgot to put in a ground wire. That's your problem. It happened to me once with my assistant, and he didn't put in the ground wires, and I had to deal with it in my workshop for a week. Take it down, and you'll see
