The first cylinder in that engine is the one that is closest to the distribution, I mean that of Alante at all. And the room is the one that hits the gearbox.

To start the tachy adjustment, the easiest thing is to look at the distribution marks, because when crankshaft and camshaft coincides in their respective brands, cylinder No. 1 is in compression.

Another way to know is to put the contact, turn the engine by hand with the tubes of the loose injectors and when diesel comes out through the tube it is giving you the exact point where the end of the compression occurs.
