Cylinder head gasket for the R19 TD. Published by manual-mecanica
Hi, I wanted to know if it's very difficult to change the head gasket. My car has
300,000 km, is 10 years old, and is leaking oil from the gasket, right above the breather (I thought that's where it was leaking from, but it's not). I really don't have the money to take it to a garage, and I need the car because I have to drive 130 km on the highway every day. My question is, since I have very little mechanical knowledge, can I replace the head gasket myself using the workshop manual?
I have space at home to keep it disassembled; it wouldn't be outside.
Thanks.

I don't recommend you do it yourself.

You need some knowledge that isn't in the workshop manual.

Have you ever changed a timing belt?

Can you diagnose a cylinder head just by looking at it?

I think you'll have to rely on a workshop for that type of repair; in the long run, you'll see it's faster and cheaper.

It's a somewhat complex repair for someone without experience.

Regards. Let me know how it goes.
