Hello, a Nissan Navara has entered my workshop with the 110,000 km engine fault, D22 engine, year 2004, I am referring to the failure of the connecting rod of the 4th cylinder, a typical Nissan fault.

I've read about it, there are videos on YouTube, and if everything matches up, my question is: is it just a matter of changing the connecting rod of the 4th cylinder, just the bushings that attach it to the crankshaft, or how?

The vehicle starts, but the timing chain guide on top is rattling and there's a rattling noise, but it has compression, everything is fine, no strange smoke or anything. On Monday I'll check the oil pressure in case the pump is bad or something.

I'm hoping someone can tell me which parts need replacing to fix it properly, because if there are too many, the customer might not bother getting it fixed. : S

The video is not of the vehicle in my workshop, but it does the same thing and is identical to it.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic of Nissan Navara pickup engine with the 4th cylinder failure
Hi! I'm not a mechanic, although I sometimes fix things myself; I enjoy working on mechanics.
This summer, one of the combine harvesters started making a noise like the one in the video. I decided to remove the engine. We took it out with a jackhammer, disassembled it, and found play in the bushings. We replaced them, along with a connecting rod, because it also had some play. We reassembled it, and the noise disappeared. For now, it's working well; it still makes the noise. It was consuming oil, but after replacing all the gaskets, it's no longer consuming oil. The bushings cost me 100 euros, and the connecting rod 90. I made the jackhammer myself.
I'm telling you this in case it helps you in any way.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic of Nissan Navara pickup engine with the 4th cylinder failure
From what I'm reading, this is a very common problem with these 4x4s. There are tons of websites offering parts for the Nissan Navara, but none of them sell engines.
Nissan is asking €5,000 for a new engine: Angry: —good grief, what a rip-off!: Cheer:

If anyone has had this problem, let me know what I might find when I open the engine, so I can prepare the customer psychologically!: Laugh:
