That positive terminal will only work with a good coil connected. I know this from experience here in Mexico. The A/C compressor has been the same since 2000-2006. Now, tapping into the fan wire is a bad idea because when the fan activates due to engine temperature, it will activate your compressor even if the A/C is off.
