Electrical Problem Ibiza-97 Published by manual-mecanica
Hi, how's it going? I'm new to the forum... and I had a question for you all. You see, I have a '97 Seat Ibiza, and I recently changed the courtesy light bulb (the one recessed in the roof) to give the car a fresh look. It used to be yellow, and now it's blue. Well, for a while now, when I switch the light to the position that illuminates when a door is open, even with all the doors closed, sometimes it works fine, but other times it stays on, even with all the doors closed. I suppose it's some kind of loose connection somewhere, but I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this before, to get a better idea of what to do before I replace the light and everything. Thanks in advance.

Manual-mechanics' response on the topic Re: Ibiza-97 Electrical Problem
Hi chispayfun, the problem is likely with the light fixture itself, as it's grounded (it always receives power).

It's possible that something in the switch that controls the light is touching the ceiling or a wire, and when you hit bumps or bump the road, the light turns on by itself.

Another (much less likely) cause could be a broken door switch, but in that case, the light would stay on or not turn on at all when you open the door where the fault is.

Best regards.
