Nissan Altima 93 Temperature Published by manual-mecanica
I'm having problems with my car's temperature gauge. It gets over a quarter past the halfway mark, at which point the cooling fans kick in and bring it down to half. Also, when the car is running for a long time, the acceleration on the throttle starts to drop until the car stalls.
If anyone can help me adjust the temperature gauge so it doesn't go over halfway, I'd appreciate it if you could help me figure out how to adjust it so it doesn't go over halfway, and then check if that's the cause of the acceleration problem. Thanks.

Hi mate, check the thermostat as it may be faulty and make sure the electric fan switch is making contact at the correct point. Good luck and regards.

Is your car equipped with an onboard computer or is it a conventional carburetor engine? I need to know to tell you where to look.

So, most likely, if you don't have a problem with the head gasket, the temperature sensor is faulty. If you don't have a sensor, check the temperature sensor. What's happening to your car is that, since the electric fan isn't turning on when it should, the system goes into emergency mode and the temperature sensor activates the fans instead of the sensor. The computer does this to protect the vehicle. It raises the RPMs to over 2000 when the electric fan stops, right? Jump the sensor wires to see if it starts. If it does, replace the sensor and you're good to go.
