AIRBAG FIAT IDEA Published by manual-mecanica
Hello everyone, I have a question about the Idea. I wanted to know if anyone has an airbag manual with sensor testing instructions and the meaning of the fault codes.
The Idea is a 2005 model with a 1.8cc engine.
Thank you very much in advance.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic Re: FIAT IDEA AIRBAG
Hi Cries, what's wrong with your airbag? The system for this component is complicated and somewhat dangerous to handle. When testing the sensors, you run the risk of accidentally activating them, and they're very expensive to buy. It's best if you tell us what the problem is, and we'll try to help. The best way to check this component is with a diagnostic tool, but perhaps we can help.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic Re: FIAT IDEA AIRBAG
Hi Kikemec, I wanted to let you know that I already scanned it and it gave me several codes. The problem is that I don't have any explanation of how to test the sensors or any electrical diagrams for the codes.
The codes are:
1 Control Unit (runaway)
26 Airbag Malfunction Indicator (permanent)
3 Connection between Malfunction Indicator and ECU (permanent)
8 Driver Airbag Explosive Charge (permanent)

Regards, Cristian

Look, when it talks about a leakage current, it's either a current that's lost somewhere or a permanent signal activation from one of the components. The "permanent" signals are always present. Perhaps it's just a grounding issue with the control unit. The best thing you can do, if you want, is to test the grounds of the connectors, just the grounds, with a test light. Now, if you could give me the p0xxx codes it's showing, I might be able to help you better.

Hi, how are you? Check the electrical connectors under the seats, as the wires tend to break and lose contact, or the connector gets damp or dirty. Also, tell me if you've done any work on the steering wheel, and if it's original or not. Additionally, check if the battery is in good condition; sometimes low battery voltage can cause these error codes. - Regards, Alfredo
