BMW 320 D OIL CHANGE ENGINE RESET Published by manual-mecanica
Hello everyone.
I want to change the engine oil in my car, but I don't know how to reset the trip computer.
I've read some tips on other forums, but they don't work for me.
My car is a 2003 BMW 320d with 150 horsepower.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Hi, based on the information, it's a BMW E46 with a 204D4 engine. You can do it through the instrument cluster as follows: with the ignition off, press and hold button A (the one between the fuel gauge and the odometer). Then turn the ignition on. After 5 seconds, "Oil Service" or "Inspection" will appear along with the message "Reset." Release the button, then press and hold the new service interval. It's a bit of a hassle, or you might need a diagnostic tool. In any case, it depends on the inspection, which is based on distance or time.
I hope this helps. Greetings from Tenerife

Thanks, my friend from the Canary Islands. I've finally managed to reset the car's engine thanks to your advice. Now we just need to learn how to reset the brake fluid, and we'll be real "home handymen."
Thanks again, and best regards.

You're welcome. If you follow the entire sequence above and also press and release button A, the message (END SIA) will appear. Turn off the ignition, and the brake fluid change is complete. I do recommend changing it in the brake and clutch system if it's not an automatic transmission, checking which one uses DOT 4 fluid.
Regarding the DIY fixes at home, I'm a professional electromechanical technician specializing in German vehicles. It's not that I'm offended, it just amused me.: P : P : P
If you need any information, I have almost all the manuals for BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, etc., and if I can't find it, I'll get it.
Greetings from the Island of the Sun.

Sincerely, José Ángel

Thanks, friend. I hope I didn't offend you with my comment about DIY projects around the house. I meant it respectfully, and it's something I enjoy doing (little odd jobs). Besides, I was referring to myself.
Thanks again for everything, and we'll definitely stay in touch now that I've found a real gem of a DIY project.
By the way, and taking advantage of your generosity, I would be interested in the maintenance manual for the 320d. As you know, mine is a 2003 model, since I already have the manual for the F650GS and have started doing some very basic maintenance.
How can I get hold of that manual?

Thanks, and greetings an hour early.
