I have a Nissan X-Trail (gasoline engine). When I accelerate the engine to approximately 3600 rpm in any gear, it produces an almost unbearable humming noise inside the vehicle. Outside of this rpm range, it doesn't make any noise. Apparently, this rpm range causes some component to resonate, producing the humming sound. Also, when the vehicle is stopped and I accelerate the engine to 3600 rpm, it produces something similar, and there is a significant vibration in the driveshaft, even though it's not rotating. What I did was place a cardboard tube inside the driveshaft tube; it reduced the noise but didn't eliminate it completely. Someone told me it could be the catalytic converter. If anyone has had a similar situation, I would appreciate their help.
