Help with a 2000 Dodge Neon!!! Posted by manual-mecanica
I have a 2000 Dodge Neon whose engine I just rebuilt, and now the check engine light is on. I ran a diagnostic scan to see what the problem was, and it says it's the timing belt, which we already checked and it's fine. Could it be that the camshaft position sensor is bad? That's my question. Could someone please help me?

Does the vehicle start, meaning it moves, or does it do nothing?
And why did you repair the vehicle?

Yes, it starts up fine and works perfectly, except the check engine light came on. I had it repaired because it seized up; water got in through the air intake where the air filter is, and a connecting rod broke because of the water.: S : S : S These cars are really low, and we had a bad rainy season.: S :S:S

If it gives you a timing problem code, it's not a sensor issue; the problem is that the belt is skipped one or even two teeth. Check the timing marks carefully.

Well, actually that's the code it gives me when I connect the computer to check the problem, but the timing belt has already been checked thoroughly and it's installed correctly: S . :S:S
