LACK OF POWER AND EXCESS FUEL KIA SPORT Published by manual-mecanica
Good morning, I'm having problems with my 1994 Kia Sportage. It suddenly started struggling and fuel consumption increased dramatically. I took it to a Kia dealership and the mechanic shocked me by saying the repair could cost between $3,000 and $6,000. He practically wrote it off. I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas on this issue that could help me. I would be very grateful.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic of LACK OF POWER AND EXCESS FUEL KIA SPORT
If you're near an AutoZone, take it there to get it scanned. They don't charge, and they sell the parts and sensors that might be malfunctioning. But if you don't want to buy them, you don't have to. If there's no AutoZone nearby, take it to a shop where they can scan your car and tell you what the problem is. If it's a sensor causing the issue, they will charge you. You can ask how much the scan costs so you know what you're dealing with. Once, someone brought me a car that was consuming a lot of gas and the engine had no power. It turned out to be the fuel pump; it was delivering more pressure than the car needed. That was the problem. When the MAP or MAF sensor fails, it can also cause this issue. Good luck, friend. Scan it!

Could you please provide some more information, such as the engine type and fuel type, to help rule out possible faults?

If it's the Kia with fuel injection, which has four injectors (two orange and two green), I'd bet the problem is the green injectors, but we do need a little more information.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic of LACK OF POWER AND EXCESS FUEL KIA SPORT
I'm sorry, friends, for not including the other details, but I'm really new to this, and it's also the first time I've bought a vehicle. What I can tell you is that it's a 1994 Kia Sportage, gasoline, 4x4, manual transmission, with 4 injectors and a 2.0L engine. If you could tell me more about these things or about the engine type so I can identify it, I would appreciate it. Anyway, Kia also scanned it, but the result wasn't satisfactory at all. What I can tell you is that the electrical system is also having problems. I'm thinking about... Have this part checked first to rule it out, or what do you think? Thank you very much for your input.
