Problems with R-19 diesel mod. 95. Posted by manual-mecanica
: S Hi guys, sorry to bother you, I have a problem with my 1995 Renault 19/RN diesel. A few days ago it started stalling. The thing is, it starts, but after about a minute it starts sputtering and then stalls, or the RPMs drop, it makes a rumbling noise like an old Bedford, and then it stops. If I use the bleeder valve, the RPMs go up and it idles fine. Could someone help me? I'm going crazy! I tried using a bleeder valve because I was blowing into the fuel inlet hose to the pump and the diesel was leaking back in, but it's not doing that anymore. I also changed the fuel filter. I noticed some diesel leaking where the throttle body is on the injection pump, where the accelerator cable connects. Could it be getting air in there? Thanks in advance!

Most likely you have an air leak, or the pressure regulating valve inside the injection pump, located at the pump's overflow outlet, is faulty. Some pumps use a calibrated passage instead of a valve. Good luck.
