Gas is escaping from the dipstick tube. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello, my Peugeot 406 is leaking fumes and some oil from the dipstick tube. It also leaks fumes when I remove the oil filler cap (with the engine running).
Besides a problem with one or more piston rings, are there any other causes for this issue?
Thank you.

Hi, it would be advisable to check the compression of each cylinder.

Well, I think you could replace the PCV valve and check the engine breathers. Just a thought. Good luck.
