MITSUBISHI DIESEL MOTOR PUBLISHED BY MANUAL-MECANICA
Good morning to all. I need to please help me with this, since it can imply a lot of money and I am not very sure about it. I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Montera Wagon, the traditional but long 5 -door, with a gasoline V6 3000 engine, had gas, but we already know about the loss of power, without counting on the space of the pipettes that the entire trunk takes. In short, the issue is that it began to smoke a lot, blue and the truth would not want to repair that engine, since without a doubt it will be very expensive in addition to the fact that on the one hand the consumption of gasoline is high and and on the other, with gas I do not like it anymore. I have been considering changing the engine for a diesel, I have studied the subject and I have met the 4M40T of 2800 cc, which recommend me? I read versions found bad and good, what do you think? Does that engine fit the car well or do you have to do a lot of adaptation work? Is there another better engine? I listen to !!!! (or read? Haha) I leave the photo.

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the Motsubishi Diesel Motor
Hi Nandomed
The blue smoke tells you that you have piston or broken rings wear, it can be gas guides. The cost of repair depends on the mechanic, there are those who receive an engine and immediately program rectification of parts to ensure success in their work, do not risk based on their knowledge. In this case, think of piston rings, connecting rod caps, bench and thrust, complete general packaging, possibly some balineras. You would have to measure cylinders, if wear and/or oval are within the limits, they are, measuring connecting rods and bench to see if they are inside the tolerance, the same as the valve guides, these rectifications are the part that most more expensive, normally these engines are of very good material, resistant to wear. On the other hand for the change from machine to a diesel you must also think about the box since these engines are slower and you will not give you the working speed of your current box.
I hope I have been useful with the comment. Luck.
Miguel

Thank you very much Miguel, very successful your comment, really one uncovers such a engine and what is coming is a very long list of expenses, since one can see things that are in the middle of life and that does not endure to leave with the engine on the ground. The box is true, it is time to mount the engine with the box that brings from the factory, in this sense, can you give me some opinion of this engine or another diesel that is Mitsubishi and the car is fine? Thank you so much.
