Fiat Punto starting problems. Posted by manual-mecanica
Hello,

I have a Fiat Punto 55s and the problem is that when I try to start it after it's been sitting for hours, I turn the key, wait for the fuel pump to prime, and then try again, but nothing happens. I have to try it again, and then it starts. I even try turning the key twice to prime the pump again, but nothing; the engine just keeps turning over.

I changed the fuel filter, but it's still the same. Does anyone know if these cars have a different filter?

Thanks

It usually uses a pre-filter located at the pump inlet in the tank.
Check the fuel pressure and if the injectors are dirty. Good luck.

When it starts, does it accelerate well or does it stall? Also check the spark plugs; the engine it has should be a FIRE. Also check the timing; it might have jumped a tooth

Hi,

the only problem with the car at the moment is that it always starts on the second or third try; the engine always has to turn over, even if only once, before everything is normal.

I know this isn't normal because I have another car and it doesn't have this problem.

Thanks
