4M40 Turbo Intercooler Engine, EGR, Diesel. Published by manual-mecanica

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Delica 2.8L, and the problem is that it's consuming too much fuel. It gets 6 km/L in the city and 9 km/L on the highway at 90 km/h. If I accelerate to 120 km/h, it gets 7 km/L. I need to know what I should check or do to improve the fuel efficiency.

Hi, first the basics: you should check the air filter. Second, you might need to have the injectors checked, which is one of the most common causes of excessive fuel consumption. The pump might also be misadjusted and delivering more fuel than required, which could also cause smoke.
