Good morning, first of all, greetings to everyone, as I'm a new user and haven't properly introduced myself yet.

I'm hoping someone can offer me some guidance...

I've been searching the forum and found an older user who has the exact same problem I'm having.
The thread is here:
www.manualesdemecanica.com/foros/4-probl...con-peugeot-306.html

My car is a Peugeot 306 XSDT 1900TD, registered in '96, and the engine, cylinder head, and filters were replaced two years ago because the previous owner overheated it and ruined the engine.
I've been having problems with coolant loss for a while now, but I found it was coming from the coolant reservoir cap, so I'm ruling that out as being related to my problem.

It starts perfectly and runs well for about three minutes, then it starts to sputter or misfire, very slightly, until it warms up, and then it runs perfectly. When I take a long curve and then return to a straightaway, the car either accelerates or decelerates as if I were flooring the accelerator or releasing it (it usually feels like I'm flooring it).

It all started a few days ago around midday when I was driving around the neighborhood. As I exited a roundabout, the car lacked power, jerked, and emitted a lot of white smoke. I thought I might have shifted into the wrong gear (which I doubt), so I put it in neutral, braked, and then into first gear. It still lacked power, jerked, and was impossible to move. I stopped completely, pushed it off the road, and after about five minutes, I tried to start it again. It didn't give me any more problems that day—no smoke or anything. That night, I drove about 100 km without any issues.

It only emits white smoke when starting the engine from cold. If I rev it four or five times in neutral, the smoke stops. However, today, after driving about 1 km from a cold start, while taking a curve in a roundabout in second gear, it gave a slight jerk and white smoke came out. The rest of the journey was fine.

Everyone tells me it's because the car was cold. However, a few weeks ago, with temperatures at -4°C, I started it and drove it without problems, and curiously, the problem occurred on a Saturday at noon when the ambient temperature was around 9°C.

I know very little about mechanics, and after reading the thread I mentioned earlier, if the same advice is given, I'm afraid I'll have to take it to a garage.

My goal was to keep it until after summer and trade it in when I get a new vehicle. What can I do?

Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards.
