Hello friends, how are you? Well, I'm trying to fix a 1999 Chevrolet Combo 1.4. I know it's the same engine as the Corsa B. It was having trouble starting, and when it did start, there was a strong smell of gasoline. So, we replaced the oxygen sensor, coolant, and fuel pressure regulator. We also had the injectors ultrasonically cleaned and replaced the spark plugs. I checked the resistance and voltage of the intake sensors (MAP, idle air control valve, etc.). TPS).. THERE WAS AN IMPROVEMENT WHEN THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE WAS CHANGED, THAT IS, THE VEHICLE STARTED BETTER, BUT I PUT IN A NEW SPARK PLUG AND IT WAS ALREADY TURNING BLACK, THAT MEANS THERE IS STILL EXCESS FUEL, THAT'S WHY I'M ASKING FOR HELP IF THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE, WELL GOOD LUCK THANKS.

I need you to tell me if it takes a long time to start when cold or hot, if the spark plugs come out black, if you are at sea level, if you have had problems with engine overheating, if you have touched the engine at any time because according to you, you have already checked all the electronic parts.

Manual-mechanics response on the topic Re: Excess fuel Chevrolet Combo 1.4 year 1999
Hello. When the fuel pressure regulator valve wasn't replaced, the car took a while to start, both cold and hot. Now, with everything new, it's improved somewhat, but it still takes a while to start on the first try, and almost no time at all when it's hot. However, I removed a spark plug and it's getting black again, which is fuel. I'm at sea level in Iquique, Chile. Now there's a strong smell of gasoline coming from the exhaust, which was also noticeable in the cabin before, as the engine was hard to start. I haven't had any problems with overheating. I hope you can help me. Thank you.

I think you should check the exhaust gas recirculation system, especially the EGR solenoid valve. When this has problems, it usually causes a fuel smell inside the vehicle. Also, check the PCV valve, because when it gets stuck, it causes excessive fuel consumption. Good luck.
