Scanner Published by manual-mecanica
I have a quick question... I have a multi-brand scanner with specific communication protocols, which means it doesn't read all vehicles. I'm wondering if I buy an adapter cable for another vehicle model, do I also need the software? Can I connect the adapter, for example, from OBD2 to a 3-pin connector? Or does each cable require its own scanner?

You need the protocols for the vehicles you can't read, but the cable sometimes works for all scanners, although the cable input to the connectors usually varies. It's best to gradually acquire another one. I generally recommend upgrading the brands that are most commonly seen in the workshop, and then using that same income to upgrade the others.

:) Thank you so much for your information. I'm going to do what you suggested and upgrade the scanner I already have, since it reads most well-known brands. Best regards
