Problem starting Toyota Corolla E11 2.0 Diesel Published by manual-mecanica
Good morning, my problem is that when I start it from cold, it starts right up, but once the car warms up, I park it and try to start it again, it takes a while and sometimes it emits white-gray smoke from the exhaust pipe.

Thank you

I didn't quite understand. You're having trouble starting it when it's cold? Change the glow plugs. If it's difficult to start all day, let us know and we'll see what's wrong.

Let me explain further. When the car is cold, it starts perfectly.
But the problem is when it's warm; it's hard to start. Often it only starts on the second try, and if it starts on the first, it takes quite a while. Sometimes, when I start it warm, grayish smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe.

Thank you very much .

Hi, by any chance did they change the timing belt? It might not be properly timed, or the pump timing might have shifted. I'm sure it's a timing issue. Make sure the pump hasn't moved out of position, or that the timing advance is faulty.
Best of luck!

It's true, that problem usually happens when the engine is hot, like a fuel pump issue. If it's always hot, it's the injectors. If it runs fine when cold but struggles when hot, I'd measure the compression when it's hot, just in case a piston ring is bad.
