discharge valve

Hello, I have a question. About a year ago I bought a Peugeot 306, roughly a 1992 model. It's a 1.9 XTDT turbo diesel intercooler with a Bosch pump, and I'd like to install a blow-off valve.
I'd appreciate it if someone who has installed such a valve could advise me on the pros and cons, and especially whether I can install it on my car.
