It's me again with my 2003 Nissan X-Trail. Yesterday, I picked it up with the check engine light on, so I took it to be scanned and have it turned off. It turned out the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) was faulty. They reset the code, and I swapped the sensor that was on the back of the car to the side. It started, and I drove about 40 km without any problems. I turned off the engine for about two hours, and when I started it again, the car wouldn't accelerate properly even with the accelerator fully pressed; it wouldn't go past 2500 RPM. It was sluggish and extremely slow, only reaching a maximum speed of about 10 or 20 km/h. The check engine light came back on. I reset the sensors to their original settings, and without having done anything, the check engine light was gone when I started it again, and the car ran normally again. I drove another 60 km, and nothing happened. This morning it started fine, I drove about 20 km and parked it at home for about 20 minutes. I started it again, drove about 4 km, and it suddenly shut off. I parked the car and started it again without any problems, and no warning lights came on on the dashboard. Could this be a problem with one of the engine sensors, or perhaps an electrical issue? If so, how do I get it checked? Just in case, I bought the sensors, and the dealership told me they're all the same and that there's no difference which one is on top or bottom. But I checked, and the codes are A29-660 AJ5, which has a white mark on its casing, and A29-660 AJ4, which doesn't have any mark. The mark must be there for a reason, and it must be the one that needs to be installed in the specific location. My question is, where do I install the one with the white mark and the higher number?

Thank you very much, friends.

Either one will give you the same function and work the same. Ideally, replace both; that will solve the problem. Make sure you don't have a loose connection in either one. Good luck.

Dude, I had a similar problem with an X-Trail once. I spent ages searching for the issue; it would run fine, then suddenly it wouldn't accelerate. I'd stop, turn off the ignition, turn it back on, and everything would be fine again. On one of the ones I repaired, I replaced the two sensors you mentioned, and everything was good. On another, the problem was the accelerator pedal switch. It was hard to find that fault, but I can't explain it; it didn't throw any codes or anything. I replaced it, and I haven't had any problems since, three years later. Give it a try

Manual-mechanics response on the topic Re: Strut and camshaft sensor for identical NISSAN XTRAIL
My friend, today my car suddenly shut off. I restarted it and the check engine light came on. After driving for about 30 minutes, I parked it. Since I had already bought the sensors because the scanner indicated they were faulty two days prior, I went to replace them because I was worried. It turned out the car shut off again. I was stuck in heavy traffic and got a little desperate, so I tried to restart it without turning the key to the off position. It wouldn't start. A few seconds later, I turned the key to the off position and tried to start it again. It started, and I accelerated with several pumps of the accelerator. Well, that's the story. At the shop, they scanned it and found the same codes for the crankshaft and crankshaft position sensors as the day before, but additionally, the code for the throttle position sensor was also present. They cleared the codes and replaced the crankshaft and crankshaft position sensors. It hasn't shown any error codes since, and the car is running, but I don't know if it's... My imagination is running high, but it feels a bit slow until it reaches full development. My question is, what symptoms did you have when the accelerator sensor issue occurred?

Thanks

Regarding the accelerator issue, the car was running fine, everything was great and perfect, and at some point it started to feel like it was bogged down and wouldn't accelerate no matter how much you pressed the pedal. Then you'd turn it off and on again and everything would be normal again, and that's how it was going, but in short, it starts to feel like it won't accelerate anymore and the speed starts to drop. You turn it off and on and everything is fine.
