PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA HILUX Published by manual-mecanica
I have a Toyota, and the battery completely drains in a matter of minutes. When I press the accelerator, the engine RPMs drop abruptly.

Could it be a current leak from the alternator? Is it possible that the battery drains again after starting the engine, turning it off, and then starting it again?

THE CURRENT IS POSSIBLY GOING TO GROUND. THE GROUND CONNECTIONS NEED TO BE CHECKED

It's easy: start the vehicle and measure the alternator's output with a multimeter. As you accelerate, the output should increase, not decrease. Another possibility is that the battery is shorted or in very bad condition. It's unlikely to discharge immediately since the residual charge is sufficient to start the engine. I assume you've already checked the terminals and such, right?

That's right, you should check how much your alternator is charging. As the RPMs increase, the battery charging voltage will rise, but if you're idling and turn on all the electrical loads (radio, lights, windshield wipers, etc.), the voltage shouldn't drop by more than 1 volt. This is based on the alternator's output at idle, which should be between 13 and 14 volts.

For example
if the idle voltage is 14V
, the lights, radio, air conditioning, and windshield wipers will add up to 13.5V,
the total difference is 0.5V
, which is less than 1V. If it's lower than 13V, your alternator needs servicing.B) B) B) : Laugh: : Laugh: : Laugh:

Should I just check the battery ground? Or something else?

Thanks for the help, I'll do it. I'll check all of that. Thanks again.
