Okay, those are different things you're talking about. To remove the cylinder head, you first need to go to the timing marks and then disassemble it, or you can make your own marks. If you change the timing chain, then you have to change the chain tensioner. These things are done together. The tensioner isn't timed, only the camshaft and crankshaft are. The tensioner has a position, but not a specific timing. The tensioner can be set however you want. What you shouldn't do is move the vehicle without the chain and with the cylinder head on. And when you put the cylinder head on, make sure that the pistons are centered in the cylinders when you install it so you don't damage the valves with the tightening.
