Opel Astra G 2.0 16v temperature sensor. Published by manual-mecanica
Hello, I have a 1998 Astra and it stalls when the temperature rises. I've used a diagnostic tool, and it says the fault is the coolant temperature sensor. I'd like to know if anyone knows where this sensor is located, as I've looked for it and can't find it. Thanks

It's located on the left side of the cylinder head, near the coil pack. (You need to check the voltage reaching the connector, which should be 5 volts.)

As my friend SCORT7913 correctly stated, the sensor is located below the coil. Check the 5 volts coming from the wiring harness; its resistance value will most likely vary. With the engine cold, measuring between the sensor terminals, there should be around 2342 ohms, or 2.3 kOhms. Bring the engine to its ideal operating temperature, which is 90°C, turn off the engine, disconnect the wiring harness again, and the resistance between the sensor terminals should be 153 ohms. Below that resistance, the ECU will interpret that the car is overheating and will cut the power.
I hope this helps.
